I'd always wanted to see Castle Rock in the Valley of the Rocks near Lynmouth in Devon. Its stature in the surrounding valley is impressive and the views it commands over the rugged North Devon coastline are some of the best available. I climbed all around Castle Rock looking for a unique view of it before I settled on this composition looking west along the coastline. I was amazed to see the yellow gorse in flower in the middle of winter!
