The Lyme Kiln
The Cobb at Lyme Regis is a beautiful feature, one which many photographers, painters and other artists have been inspired by over the years. I must've visited it to make photographs four or five times, when it's windy or moody, or when a good sunrise looks possible. This picture was made when I saw a break in the cloud forecast around dawn and decided to take my chances. A clear patch of sky allowed light to penetrate the different layers of cloud that covered the sea, while heavy clouds overhead created deep contrast.
