Cadair Idris, Snowdonia

Up Here in the Armchair

Sunrise from the top of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia; it was a slog getting here after a 3:15am alarm but it was totally worth the effort. I walked up via the pony path under the half-light of the moon. Eerie moonlight shadows from the trees overhead soon gave way to ever expanding views as I climbed higher and higher. At the peak Penygader I was enveloped in cloud and had to wait 45 minutes for the view to clear. As it did I was delighted to see a cloud inversion. I took this picture not long after the sun had risen above the horizon.
